Happenings on the Web

This week Adoptive Families Circle (AFC) is offering two fabulous Webinars that I wanted to pass on to Blended readers. Join these discussions and ask your questions or submit your questions to the experts before the Webinar for topical consideration. You must register for the Webinars but if you cannot make the exact time then be sure to get the audio file. Take advantage of these great opportunities!

The first Webinar “Caring for Your Child’s Skin and Hair in Transracial Adoption” is tomorrow, on Wednesday December 12th, 2012 from 1PM to 2PM ET. This Expert Webinar will be hosted by Brooke Jackson, M.D. A board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Jackson is the Medical Director of the Skin Wellness Center of Chicago and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northwestern University. Her specialties include ethnic skin care, laser therapy, and skin cancer prevention. She recently published a guidebook for adoptive families, Child of Mine: Caring for the Skin and Hair of Your Adopted Child. Dr. Jackson is also a 10-time marathoner, eight-time triathlete, and the adoptive mom of three energetic toddlers.

The second Webinar “Establishing a Healthy Feeding Relationship” is December 13, 2012 from 1PM to 2PM ET. This Expert Webinar will be hosted by Katja Rowell, M.D., aka “The Feeding Doctor.” Dr. Rowell is a family physician who works with parents to establish healthy feeding relationships by focusing on the how of feeding. She has developed a special interest in supporting adoptive and foster families with feeding and weight worries, and recently published Love Me, Feed Me: The Adoptive Parent’s Guide to Ending the Worry About Weight, Picky Eating, Power Struggles and More.
